Emoji combos to copy and paste

Click any combo to copy it, or stack a few into the collection strip and copy the set. Everything here is plain Unicode, so it pastes anywhere a caption does.

Showing 191 of 191 combos. Click any one to copy it and add it to the collection below.

Edit it like any text box โ€” reorder the pieces, add a space, delete the one you did not mean to click.

Counts the emoji you can see, and the characters a limit will count.

Emoji are characters, drawn by whatever font the reader's device has, so the same combo looks different on an iPhone, a Pixel and a Samsung. Anything added to Unicode in the last couple of years shows as an empty box on a device that has not updated. A screen reader announces each emoji by name, so a five-emoji combo is five words read aloud โ€” one combo at the end of a caption is a fair trade, one on every line is not.

Why a combo reads differently from one emoji

One emoji is punctuation. Three in a row is a sentence: a thing, then what happened to it, then the outcome. A launch post that ends in a box, a rocket and a check mark tells the story of the post again in a form that survives a reader who skimmed the words, which is most readers.

That is also why the categories on this page are organised by what you are announcing rather than by which emoji they contain. A founder looking for a combo has a post in hand and a mood to match, not a Unicode block in mind.

Keep to one combo per post. Two combos compete, and a caption that is mostly emoji reads as noise to everyone and as a list of names to anyone using a screen reader.

The same combo does not look the same on every phone

Emoji added to Unicode in the last two years show as an empty box on any device that has not updated its font. If a combo carries the whole meaning of a post, prefer emoji that have existed for a while.

Emoji are characters, and each platform draws them with its own font. The sequence you copy is identical everywhere; the pictures are not.

Where to use it, and where it costs you

  • The end of a caption or a bio line is the natural place. The first line of a LinkedIn post is not: it is the line that decides whether the rest is read, and emoji spend it.
  • Never put emoji in a hashtag or a handle. Hashtags stop at the first emoji, and handles do not accept them at all.
  • A screen reader announces each emoji by name, so a five-emoji combo is five words read aloud before or after your sentence. One combo is a fair trade; a combo on every line is not.
  • Emoji count against character limits, and most count as two characters on X. Check the counter before you post a combo-heavy caption.
